Profile

 

I work at Karlstad University as a Professor in Media and Communication Studies. I am the programme leader of the International Master’s Programme in Global Media Studies, which is also one of my key areas of research. A related research ambition is to develop the interdisciplinary field of Communication Geography, with a special focus on media and identity, urban/rural studies, surveillance studies and consumer culture.

I hold a PhD in Journalism and Mass Communication from Göteborg University, Sweden (2001). From 2001 to 2005 I worked as a lecturer in the School of Arts and Communication, Malmö University. During the academic year 2005-06 I was a visiting post-doc at the Department of Art History and Communication Studies, McGill University, Montreal (see also Projects).
